Varahi – 14 Inch | Paper Mache/ Barahi/ Navratri Bommai/ Gifts/ Showpiece

Varahi, the revered Hindu Goddess, holds a significant position among the powerful Matrikas, a group of powerful female deities. Often associated with Lord Vishnu’s boar incarnation (Varaha avatar), she embodies his holy feminine essence. As a guardian, protector, and bestower of blessings, Varahi commands profound respect.
Depicted riding a buffalo or standing gracefully on a lotus, Varahi’s traditional representation includes a human body with the head of a pig or sow, along with four arms holding various weapons symbolizing her strength and authority, such as a trident, sword, rope, and goad.
Worship of Varahi is particularly prominent in southern India, especially in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, as well as in other regions of Southeast Asia. Devotees seek her divine presence for protection, courage, victory over adversaries, and the removal of obstacles. She is also associated with aspects of fertility and abundance.
In various traditions, Varahi is venerated as the divine mother, and her worship is an integral part of Tantric and Shakti rituals. Many believe in her immense power for spiritual growth and elevation.
Throughout South India, numerous temples are dedicated to Varahi, including renowned sites like the Chaurasi Varahi Temple in Chhattisgarh and the Varahi Amman Temple in Tiruvalangadu, Tamil Nadu. Despite variations in her history and devotion among different sects and regions, Varahi remains an embodiment of strength and protection.
