The Thiri / Wick is used to light oil or ghee Lamps / Diyas. This Thiri is from thread extracted by hand from the fiber of the Lotus stem. The Lotus, known as the Thamarai in Tamil, is considered an auspicious flower for the Puja of Goddess Lakshmi. Lighting a lamp with the Thamarai Thiri is auspicious, wards off doshams, and reduces the effects of bad karma. It also attracts good fortune and creates positivity in the house. Each pack of the Thamarai Thiri contains enough thread for ten uses.  ÂÂ
