What is ground coffee?
All forms of coffee come from Coffea (the coffee tree). To harvest coffee and make it consumable, the tree’s cherries are plucked and then processed to extract the coffee seeds that are inside. These tiny seeds are called green coffee beans. In order to consume them, the coffee beans are roasted into whole coffee beans.
Whole coffee beans are ground into smaller particles to extract the maximum amount of flavour possible before being brewed. People grind coffee beans in various ways. Some do it using electric coffee grinders, some use mortar and pestles and others even use blenders or food processors. The resulting product, post grinding, is called ground coffee.
Ground coffee is one of the most commonly found forms of coffee. You can find it at most supermarkets or shops around your neighbourhood. But if you’re craving the best quality ground coffee, then look no further than Aha Bazaar.

The differences between instant coffee and ground coffee
Instant coffee and ground coffee are both derived from the same ingredient - coffee beans. But the difference is in how they’re processed and how they ultimately taste when you take a sip.
Instant coffee has been around since the early 19th century. The process involves roasting coffee beans, usually of a lower quality variety, and then grinding them into a powder-like form. They are then brewed to strip them of their water content leaving behind an extract. The extract is then sprayed with liquid coffee concentrate in a very hot environment to transform it into crystallized coffee grounds. Any remaining water is removed once again from the coffee grounds to preserve the flavour of coffee and it is then packaged to sell.
On the other hand, ground coffee is washed and roasted before being packaged but not processed the way instant coffee is. Ground coffee therefore slowly beings to deteriorate whereas instant coffee doesn’t. But on the flip side, ground coffee offers a much more rich, complex and deep flavour profile whereas most instant coffees will taste almost exactly the same. Coffee grounds have a higher capacity for pleasant acidity, a wider range of bodies and more flavour compounds that can be extracted.
Therefore, although instant coffee and ground coffee are both coffee and made from the same ingredient there’s a noticeable difference when it comes to flavour and taste. Instant coffee is essentially a cup of coffee that can be made instantaneously, whereas ground coffee requires much more effort and time to bring out the right blend of flavours which can be infinitely more delicious and rewarding.
