AHA KALYANA SEER is the traditional practice of providing sweets and savouries as part of the bride’s trousseau that the parents usually organise to be distributed amongst friends, family and guests at the wedding. The tradition of Seer began in the early days as a means of providing guests who had travelled long distances to attend the wedding and therefore the yummies from the Seer would be distributed to them individually as a gesture of gratitude for attending the wedding and as a snack for their journey back home. As the majority of sweets and savouries included are made using oil, it would last their sometimes long travel. 5/7 Ring Murukku, Adhirasam, Laddoo, Badhusha, Mysorepak, Mullu Murukku, Mixture are the sweets and savouries that are generally included as part of the traditional Seer.
